An Epic Girls’ Day Out in YQG

Original blog by Josie Elysia

There’s something about a girls’ day that just hits different. It’s that mix of good food, too much laughter, and the kind of spontaneous shopping you try to justify later. If you’re in Windsor Essex you don’t need to look far for the perfect itinerary — the region is packed with spots that feel fun, fresh, and a little bit magical. We decided to see if we could fit them all into one day, and let’s just say: Windsor delivered.

No girls’ day officially begins without brunch. At The Twisted Apron, we went straight for the Dubai French Toast — fluffy, sweet, and decadent enough to feel like dessert at 10 a.m. It’s the kind of plate that makes you pause for a photo before diving in. With our belly’s fully, we were ready to tackle the rest of the day.

Our first shopping stop was Urban Art Market, a collective that’s basically a love letter to Windsor’s creative side. Every corner is filled with pieces from local artisans — jewelry, candles, prints, you name it. It’s the sort of place where you end up buying something you didn’t even know you needed, just because it feels personal.

Then there’s Jones & Company, which deserves a medal for being Windsor’s unofficial Jellycat heaven. If you’re not familiar, they’re plush toys that are oddly addictive to collect. Walking in, it’s impossible not to feel like a kid again, grinning while you squeeze one “just to see how soft it is.”

From there, it was on to Whiskeyjack Boutique, where everything on the shelves has one thing in common: it’s Canadian-made. Whether it’s cozy knitwear or a quirky mug, shopping here feels good because you know your dollars are going straight back into supporting homegrown makers.

Book lovers, take note — Juniper Books is Windsor’s hidden gem. The store has this dreamy, old-world vibe that makes you want to curl up in a corner with whatever novel you just picked up. Time slips away easily here, so set an alarm if you’ve got more stops planned. We might have spent a little too much time getting lost in the pages.

Of course, sugar was next on the agenda. Cookie Bar isn’t playing around with their quarter-pound cookies. These things are massive, gooey, and best enjoyed with a couple friends— although no judgment if you go solo.

By the time the caffeine slump hit, Chance Coffee had our backs. Minimalist décor, calming vibes, and the kind of matcha you’ll think about long after you’ve left. It’s easy to linger here longer than planned, and honestly, that’s the point.

For something more active, we swapped drinks for lake time at Urban Surf Company. Paddleboarding on the Detroit River and Pike Creek is an experience in itself, but if that’s not your vibe, they’ve got pottery workshops and cozy firepits. Adventure, craft, or chill — take your pick.

We wrapped things up with dinner at Harbour House Waterfront Eatery, which has both killer seafood and gorgeous riverfront views. Seafood pasta’s, cocktails, and good conversation while the sun set — it felt like the ultimate exhale after a packed day.

And because no girls’ day is complete without dancing, we finished at Ariius Nightclub. The music, the lights, the energy — it’s the kind of spot where age doesn’t matter, just the vibe. And the vibe was immaculate.

If you’re planning a girls’ day in Windsor Essex, take this as your roadmap. From French toast to paddleboards, oversized cookies to late-night dance floors, the city has everything you need for a day that’ll leave your camera roll overflowing and your heart full.
