Legacy Beacon Streetcar No. 351

Stop by the Legacy Beacon and tour the fully restored Streetcar No. 351. During your visit, make sure to check out the new bilingual exhibition – Streetcar No. 351 Windsor and the Story of Public Transit on Rails.

Streetcar No. 351 is an important artifact in the story of Windsor’s transportation history. Built in 1918 by the Cincinnati Car Company, the streetcar is 50 feet long and weighs just over 24,000 pounds. Electric streetcars ran on Tecumseh Road, Wyandotte Street, Ouellette Avenue, Parent Avenue, College Avenue, Lincoln Road, Seminole Street, and Erie Street, as well as the Sandwich line that ran down University Avenue. The last streetcars stopped running in Windsor on May 7, 1939.

The streetcar sits beside a 10,000-square-foot patio offering food and beverage service, including licensed drinks. From the patio, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Detroit River, making it a perfect spot to relax, take in the scenery, and appreciate Windsor’s vibrant waterfront.

Streetcar No. 351 is now closed for the season. Will re-open May 1, 2026.
