Home to more than twenty wineries along the Lake Erie North Shore, this picturesque region produces award-winning, world-class wines. Nestled on Canada’s southernmost shore, EPIC enjoys a unique maritime climate and up to 30 extra days of sun, creating grapes with richer flavours and naturally sweeter profiles.
Each winery tells its own story through the glass. From charming family-run estates to grand historic wineries, including Canada’s oldest estate winery, every stop combines exceptional wine with warm, welcoming hospitality. Pause for a tasting, linger for lunch, and discover why there’s always something to toast in EPIC Wine Country.
Cyclists can enjoy sunny, bike-friendly roads that link wineries with farms, beaches, parks, and other local attractions. The town of Kingsville is a must-visit along the route, rich in Victorian heritage, it boasts charming downtown streets, boutique shops, cafés, and a vibrant waterfront. Cyclists will enjoy exploring the local parks and trails, stopping for a coffee or snack, and taking in the town’s welcoming, small-town atmosphere.
Stop at the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary, a historic refuge for migratory birds, where observation blinds, walking trails, and seasonal educational programs bring the rich birdlife of Essex County to life. For a step back into the past, visit the Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village, where classic vehicles, heritage buildings, and hands-on exhibits showcase the region’s transportation history.
Along the route, step back in time at John R. Park Homestead and Conservation Area, where a Classical Revival home (built 1842), kitchen fireplace baking, an 1885 steam-powered sawmill, and a blacksmith shop bring history to life. For a sensory treat, visit Serenity Lavender Farm, featuring over 40 lavender varieties. Stroll the vibrant gardens, explore the gift shop, and indulge in everything from handmade bath products to culinary delights.
