River Canard & Park
River Canard is Canada’s southernmost river. This shallow 12 km waterway is perfect for paddling, fishing and spotting wildlife. The park borders River Canard with access to the water and has a public board walk/fishing pier, kayak launch, basketball court and baseball diamonds.
In the In the War of 1812, River Canard was the site of the first engagement in Canada involving British and American forces in significant numbers. It was attacked by the Americans on July 16, 1812. The British fell back and the Americans abandoned the position the following day. You can find the Ontario Heritage Trust plaque under the bridge at Front Road.
