Free Peche Island Tour Day

Free Peche Island Boat Rides from Lakeview Park Marina!

Peche Island Day will take place on August 15 2026. With robust progress towards the Detroit River’s revival, this event provides committed partners with an opportunity to share remediation stories and celebrate successes with the public. Offerings include free boat rides to and from Lakeview Marina/Peche Island, sponsored by the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup. Guests can explore the island on foot, check out some educational displays and activities hosted by partners and attend a few hikes led by City of Windsor staff.

The guided hikes will take place at 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. Please meet at the DRCC tent five minutes before the hikes begin. Each hike will go to the ruins and back and be about 30-45 minutes. Participants will be able to return with the group or break away from the tour at the ruins to take the longer loop back and/or go see the north shore on their own.

Tours begin each day at 10am, and the last ride to the island takes place at 1pm, with a strict 2pm return time. Visitors are encouraged to reserve a spot. Walk-ons will be permitted on a first-come first-serve basis but cannot be guaranteed.
