Windsor Essex Barrel Trail Grows With The New Flight Log Passport Program

Tuesday June 11th, 2019

June 8th through June 16th is officially Craft Beer Week across the province, and today Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island held an event to celebrate the growth of the brewery scene in our region in conjunction with our Barrels Bottles and Brews Trail brewery and distillery discovery route.

To promote the industry as a whole, in partnership with the 13 locations on the Barrels Bottles and Brews Trail, Tourism Windsor Essex developed a new passport exploration program โ€˜The Flight Logโ€™. The Flight Log encourages visitors and locals alike to get liquid on lips at each of the 11 breweries and 2 distilleries on the Barrels Bottles & Brews trail.

โ€œThe brewery and distillery scene in Windsor Essex has quickly become one of the premier interests in visitors and locals when they explore and pour their way through our regionโ€ says Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex. โ€œThe implementation of the Flight Log fulfills another valuable and enriching asset in our culinary product portfolio which cross-pollinates so well with other foodie-driven offerings.โ€

Flight Logs are available for purchase now at barrelsbottlesbrews.ca. Purchasing a Flight Log will give each visitor the opportunity to taste a flight of either craft beer or craft spirits at all participating partners, worth a value of approximately $140. In addition to the tastings, once the Flight Log is completed, they can redeem it for an official Barrels Bottles & Brews bar mat.

In addition to the release of the Flight Log, Tourism Windsor Essex also hosted a Craft Beer Trade Tasting with members of local Business Improvement Areas and Ontario Restaurant Hotels & Motel Association (ORHMA). The goal of which is to connect brewers with the business community and to get local products served in their establishments.

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island was awarded the Culinary Leadership Award in October 2019 from the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario for leadership in culinary tourism, in part to the creation of programs like the Barrels Bottles & Brews Trail.
