Team of 19 Top Canadian Athletes Coming to the Canada Cup of Diving in Windsor

Diving Plongeon Canada will send a delegation of 19 athletes to compete at the Canada Cup of Diving, taking place April 9 – 12 at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.

The Canadian team will be led by Olympic medalists Nathan Zsombor-Murray and Rylan Wiens, two of the most experienced divers on the squad. Several athletes who have recently earned medals on the World Cup circuit will also be in action.

The team also includes a number of promising young divers who will have the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s top international athletes while benefiting from the experience of the Canadian team’s veterans.

The competition will bring together close to 100 athletes from several major diving nations, including China, Great Britain, the United States, and Australia. Many of the participants have competed at the Olympic Games or at various stops on the World Aquatics Diving World Cup circuit.

“The City of Windsor is proud to welcome the 2026 Canada Cup of Diving, building on the momentum of last year’s World Cup,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “With more than 90 athletes from over 14 countries competing, Windsor will once again be on the global stage. Our Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre continues to attract world-class competition, reinforcing our reputation as a premier sports tourism destination. We built this facility to host events of this calibre, and we are seeing the impact across our local economy and hospitality sector. Events like this showcase elite sport, introduce Windsor to new audiences around the world, and inspire young athletes to work hard to achieve their dreams. We value our continued partnership with Diving Plongeon Canada, and all the partners who work together to create these impactful and unforgettable experiences in Windsor.”

With the World Aquatics Diving World Cup event scheduled in Mexico cancelled, opportunities for international competition are more limited this season. Events such as the Canada Cup therefore play an important role in allowing athletes to gain valuable competitive experience.

Each opportunity to compete is important as athletes continue their development toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

“The Canada Cup of Diving is exactly the kind of event that drives real visitation to Windsor Essex” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island and CEO of Invest WindsorEssex. “With the increase in athletes competing and countries being showcased and expanded broadcast reach, this event once again puts Windsor on the world stage. We saw incredible demand and a sold-out event last year, and that momentum continues to grow. Beyond the competition, it brings athletes, coaches and fans who stay in our hotels, dine in our restaurants and experience our region, delivering a meaningful impact for our tourism and hospitality sector.”

Diving Plongeon Canada would like to extend its sincere thanks to its valued partners, including the Government of Ontario, the Government of Canada, the City of Windsor, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island, Dive Ontario, the Windsor Diving Club, and the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre presented by WFCU Credit Union. Their continued support plays a vital role in making international competitions like the Canada Cup of Diving possible and in helping showcase world-class diving in Windsor.
