Good Vibes Were Felt Across Windsor Essex This Summer
My Happy Place Campaign Drives Visitation Across Windsor Essex During The Reopening Phase of Tourism
WINDSOR, ON – Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island wanted good vibes this summer – and it delivered with the Find Your Happy Place digital pass, a free digital passport to encourage locals and visitors alike the opportunity to explore the region and get rewarded for it.
The Find Your Happy Place Digital Pass incentivized travel across the region giving users points per check in at each of the 110 Official Happy Place attractions and businesses. Once users checked in at 15 businesses they were awarded with $25 gift card to a local business. Pass holders were also incentivized to visit more by getting additional $25 and $50 gift cards at check in thresholds of 25, 50, 75 and 100 Official Happy Places.

“Our campaign surpassed expectations and we helped put a smile on pass holder and business owners faces” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex. “Injecting $30,000 worth of spend back into our tourism and hospitality industry, through gift card incentives, was a meaningful way to support local and deliver an economic return.
The Find Your Happy Place Digital Pass was originally designed to run from July 18th through October 31st, 2022, or once the $10,000 in gift cards were awarded. The campaign quickly became oversubscribed, and additional gift cards were purchased from participating businesses and in total $30,000 in gift cards were given away and the campaign ended on Monday September 19th.
“We helped people find their happy place this summer, as we incentivized them to do so, and as a results new happy places were discovered” said Orr.
Over 1.9k people registered for the program and checked in over 16.6k times throughout the campaign dates. In addition, users had the opportunity to receive bonus offers through the passport when they checked in at select locations, encouraging additional sales and repeat visits.
