WINDSOR, ON – Today Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island released their 2022/2023 Official Visitor Guide, an unofficial kick-off to the return of the tourism season in Windsor Essex. The guide will be distributed locally and through digital campaigns across Ontario as a major marketing lure to bring visitors to our region.

“This year’s guide will stand out on display racks and on coffee tables, featuring an experience in our vineyards showing friends and family coming together for a unique buyable experience. More than ever people are looking for unique experiences and tours when they plan a trip, and this year’s guide is packed with 92 pages of unique opportunities available in Windsor Essex” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex. “Our industry was hit the hardest during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will take the longest to recover, and the release of the visitor guide is a positive step in the reopening of the industry.’

After a few year hiatus today Tourism Windsor Essex, in partnership with Devonshire Mall, also opened the Staycation Expo, an event that encourages local residents to explore the great things to see and do in their own back yard. The Staycation Expo, running May 12 – 14, will focus on helping local residents explore their own backyard by planning a Staycation featuring 45+ exhibitors profiling key attractions, tour options, wineries, craft breweries, summer festivals and more exhibiting inside Devonshire Mall.

“Through this collaborative marketing partnership with Devonshire Mall, who has generously opened their doors to welcome us, our tourism partners are afforded the opportunity to showcase some of the most unique things to explore in our region to the Devonshire Mall patrons” said Orr. “This weekend thousands will learn more about our region, and be able to share those messages with their friends, and together explore more of our region.”

“Devonshire Mall is pleased to partner again with Tourism Windsor Essex on this unique event to help showcase the diverse and memorable opportunities that our region offers” said Chris Savard, General Manager of Devonshire Mall. “Each year thousands flock to Devonshire Mall for the staycation expo, and as the busiest building in the region we view this partnership as a true win-win for our tenants, customers, and the entire tourism industry.”

A new aspect to the Staycation Expo with be the Staycation Passport, an incentive program designed to help visitors explore all the stops at the Staycation Expo. Visitors can pick up a passport as they enter the Expo and get it stamped at 8 different exhibitors displayed at Devonshire Mall for the chance to win a $500 Devonshire Mall gift card.

Locals are encouraged to visit the Staycation Expo this weekend to pick up their own copy of the 2022/2023 Official Visitor Guide, or to view a digital version of the 2022/2023 Official Visitor Guide by clicking here.
