From sparkling outdoor skating rinks and dazzling light festivals to catching the Windsor Spitfires in action, mixing up cozy winter cocktails, and planning the perfect celebration with our New Year’s Eve Guide, extending your holidays has never been easier, or more fun! Keep reading for 10 festive ideas to make the season last just a little longer.

1. New Year’s Eve Guide

As you start dreaming up the perfect way to welcome 2026, let our New Year’s Eve Guide be your go-to cfor planning a celebration that feels effortless, exciting and totally you. 2. Outdoor Skating

With not one but two newly opened skating rinks in the area it only makes sense to check them both out! The City Hall Square Ice Rink in downtown Windsor will be open daily from 7:30am to 10:30pm, weather permitting. Be on the look out for special programming throughout the summer and lace up those skates! The Loop at LaSalle Landing is LaSalle’s newest attraction – a multi-use skate and recreational trail. The ice is open daily from 9am to 10pm. Bundle up and enjoy a fun outdoor skating experience with family and friends!

3. Light Festivals

The Light Festivals in Windsor Essex don’t end when Santa heads back to the North Pole – they continue into the New Year! Use the FREE Holiday Lights Pass to guide you to each Festival – and the chance to WIN as you do. The Holiday Light Pass requires no downloading – just register with your email and phone number and you’ll get a text sent directly to your phone. 4. Windsor Spitfires Game

Ring in the New Year with hockey at the WFCU Centre! Countdown to midnight with the Windsor Spitfires on Wednesday December 31st, game time is at 2pm. CheerΒ  on the Spits with in-game entertainment, party favours, and a celebratory atmosphere you won’t forget. Get there early to grab your Rally Towels giveaway.

5. New Year’s Eve Fireworks: Kingsville

End the year with a bang! Enjoy free skating, hot chocolate, and crafts at the Kingsville Arena on December 31st from 1:30pm to 6:45pm. Fireworks will blast off at 7pm.

6. New Year’s Eve Fireworks: Lakeshore

Ring in the New Year with all your family and friends this year by closing out the holiday season with a festive fireworks show at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre! Wednesday December 31st at 6:30pm.

7. New Year’s Eve Fireworks: LaSalle

Ring in the New Year at LaSalle’s annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks show at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex at 2121 Laurier Parkway. Find a parking spot on-site and cozy up with your loved one for a dazzling fireworks display that will light up the night sky! Fireworks begin at 7:30pm and will be launched behind the outdoor pavilion, near the splash pad, making them visible from any parking lot on-site.

8. New Year’s Eve at The Square at Windsor City HallΒ 

Join the City of Windsor for a special New Year’s Eve celebration from 6pm to 9pm at the City Hall Square Ice Rink!Β Celebrate the arrival of 2026 in the downtown core with live entertainment, activities, delicious offerings from local vendors, and more!
