North Shore Route

To the north, along Lake St. Clair, there are several worthwhile paddling launchpoints.  Start in the quaint town of Lighthouse Cove, a unique residential canal community and the site of the second oldest lighthouse in the Province of Ontario, the Thames River Lighthouse.

Then head west to pristine conservation areas at Tremblay Beach and Ruscom Shores, which offer some great lookout points onto the Lake, alongside birding opportunities, marshes and a sandy beach to explore.

Arriving at Belle River Marina, check out the adjacent Lakeview Park and West Beach, with playgrounds, a splashpad, an amphitheatre for concerts and movies, and sand volleyball.  Free bike rentals connect you to town and other trails nearby.

Stand up paddleboarding (or SUP) is also popular along Lake St. Clair: Urban Surf Co. and Sup & Sun have dedicated classes and events to get you aquatically connected.
