Small Town Video Series: Lakeshore

Original blog by Arienne SeeUSoon Travel

Join us in discovering Lakeshore, Ontario by watching the third installment in the ‘Small Town Getaways’ series, created in conjunction with Ontario’s Southwest and Arienne from See You Soon Travel.

Situated along the south shores of Lake St. Clair, and home to stunning beachfronts, casual waterfront dining and sunset paddles, Lakeshore is the ideal destination for outdoor activity. There are unique bites and sights to discover around every corner in Lakeshore. Take a look at what a weekend getaway is like!

A boater’s paradise and the Muskie capital of Canada, it’s no doubt that a visit here should include time on the water.  Try your hand at securing your own catch of the day with a fishing charter or spend the day at Lakeview Park/Belle River Marina and West Beach, Lakeshore’s feature waterfront park.   Walk the Jetty, frolic in the lake & splashpad, play beach volleyball, picnic, BBQ and have an ice cream.  For those looking for a bit more adventure, make sure to check out S’up & Sun which offers Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) and Kayak rentals, SUP paddling classes, SUP fitness, SUP yoga, sunset cruises and even SUP socials!

For those who prefer to keep their feet on the mainland, don’t miss your chance to explore Essex County’s best kept golfing secret, Rochester Place, a 18 hole, par 72, tree lined golf course.  After your round, ensure to recharge at the Parkside Grill, where you can enjoy a delicious meal on the 3000 sq. ft. luxurious outdoor patio lounge, complete with a fireplace and two fire pits. Take in the spectacular view of the beautiful Rochester Place Golf course or dine inside and experience the extended bar and comfortable seating.  Accessible by both land and the water, Sandbar Waterfront Grill features the largest open-air patio on this side of Lake St. Clair with a menu focused on locally sourced ingredients to serve up their signature Sandbar Burger, Crab & Lobster Nacho’s and the ever-popular Perch specials. If delicious Italian fare is what your taste buds are after, Casa Mia Restaurant will be sure to satisfy with their authentic Italian food, local wines and homemade desserts.

Recharge in Comber, at The Iron Kettle B&B. Built in 1876, the six well-appointed bedrooms will charm you with their modern furnishings and antique accents.  Sit and enjoy a glass of wine pool side and let the Chef Benjamin impress you with his seasonal and local cuisine during your stay. No visit to Lakeshore would be complete without a visit to Wagner’s Orchard. In the retail store make sure to stock up on everything from homemade jam, wine, growlers of cider, handcrafted candles, and mark the calendar to pick your own apples in the fall!  Whatever it is exploring on land or on the water, you are sure to find you next favourite brunch spots to fuel your outdoor adventures in the nooks of Lakeshore.
