The Kingsville Highland Games are back!
Where the spirit of the Highlands meets the shores of Lake Erie – the Kingsville Highland Games honour the rich Scottish traditions and Celtic heritage of Southern Ontario. From world‑class pipe bands to the thunder of heavy athletics to the raw grit of tug of war to the grace of Highland dance and immersive cultural showcases, the Games ignite a vibrant celebration of clan and kin for all ages.
These Highland Games stand as the sole event of its kind in the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent region, making it a cornerstone of local cultural heritage. This celebrated gathering draws enthusiastic crowds from across Ontario, Michigan, Ohio and beyond, uniting communities through tradition, athleticism, and shared cultural appreciation.
A FULL DAY OF COMPETITION
PIPING AND DRUMMING:
Grade 5 to Grade 3 solo bagpipers & solo drummers plus Grade 5 to Grade 3 Pipe Bands will compete under the direction of Piping and Pipe Band Society of Ontario
HIGHLAND DANCING:
Dancers perform traditional Scottish solo dances – judged on technique, timing, strength and presentation
Under guidance of Windsor & District Highland Dancers Association, novice and experienced dancers compete
HEAVY EVENTS:
Canadian Scottish Athletic Federation provides oversight for male & female athletes competing in tests of strength including hammer throw, sheaf toss, stone throw, & caber toss
Local competitors include – Celine Gibb (Women’s Pro); Rebecca Mickle (Women’s Pro); Mike Dibbley (Men’s Masters); Tanner Craig-Smith (Men’s Amateur); Henry Heaton (Boy’s Junior)
TUG of WAR:
Anticipating teams from Northern Ireland & Nova Scotia to compete against competitors from across Ontario
HAGGIS HURL:
Area mayors compete for title of Chief Haggis Hurler
FEAST, SHOP & SOCIALIZE
CLAN & JACOBITE VILLAGES – Variety of Clans & Societies exhibiting information about their family history & helping guests find details about their ancestry
SHEEP SHEERING & HERDING – Demonstrations of intelligence & skill required to work the land
ARTISANS & MERCHANTS – Shop local goods from across the region
FOOD CONCESSIONS & BEER TENT – Savour hearty fare & festival favorites
JACOBITE ENCAMPMENT – Experience rugged life of highlanders through historical reenactments
