
The Pelee Island Bird Observatory
The Pelee Island Bird Observatory (PIBO) is an NGO devoted to the study and conservation of wild birds and their habitats.
The most southerly place in Canada, Pelee Island on Lake Erie hosts a tremendous variety of migratory and resident birds. We provide hour-long environmental education programs for school groups, naturalist clubs, and anyone else interested in visiting the Bird Observatory. All program bookings include a post-trip activities package and teacher’s guide.
Open seven days a week from:
April 15th – May 31st in the spring
August 15th – November 1st in the fall
Visiting hours: 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. the operation time will often be flexible early and late in the season due to other commitments.
Note: The station is closed on rainy days and sometimes due to the threat of rain.
