Official Visitor Guide Released to Help the Tourism Industry Assist in Their Restart Plan

Visitor Guides and Complimentary Hand Sanitizer Distributed to Local Tourism Businesses

Today Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island launched their 2020/2021 Official Visitor Guide in preparation for businesses planning to reopen as social distancing measures are slowly lifted. Though limited attractions are open in the region, most businesses are preparing for opening and following recommended Windsor-Essex County Health Unit procedures for welcoming visitors into their venues.

“Though we know doors aren’t open to a lot of our attractions right now, the tourism industry is slowly opening, and our Official Visitor Guide is one of the top advertising pieces we use to attract interested visitors to our region” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex. “Though we know this tourism season will look different, we do know that people are ready to explore when it is safe to do so, and we want to have Windsor Essex top of mind for them when they plan a road trip Windsor Essex in the near future.”

The new guide is a show stopper – featuring 92 pages of superb imagery, a new layout, magazine-style editorial, and quotes from influencers and travel writers that have visited our region in the past year. To view a digital edition of the 2020/2021 Official Visitor Guide click here.

The guide will be distributed across Ontario beginning later this month. Visitor guides will be available for pick up at stakeholder partners when they open. Visitors planning to travel to Windsor Essex when it is safe to do so can view the guide online now at www.visitwindsoressex.com or request a copy be mailed to them.

In addition to the Visitor Guide being released, a tourism hub was operated at the Tourism Windsor Essex main office, including complimentary distribution of hand sanitizer courtesy of the City of Windsor, Hiram Walker Distillery, Highbury Canco and Laser Transport Inc.

“One of the biggest concerns our stakeholder partners have told us is that access to Personal Protection Equipment has been a top priority.” said Orr. “A big thank you to Mayor Dilkens and the City of Windsor administration for the opportunity to stock up our partner’s shelves with these much needed supplies, and help alleviate some of their budget concerns during the reopening process.”
