We’re all about local libations. With a booming cocktail scene and several regional distilleries, our pubs, bars, and restaurants proudly craft a variety of unique drinks using homegrown spirits. From whisky-based classics to inventive gin cocktails, these establishments celebrate the region’s rich distilling heritage with every pour.

Wolfhead Distillery – Espresso Martini

A match made in Whisky heaven

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Wolfhead Signature Coffee Whisky Liqueur
  • 0.5 oz Wolfhead Vanilla Almond Biscotti Cream Liquor
  • 2 oz Cold Brew Coffee or Espresso

Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake, shake, shake. Strain into your favourite martini glass. Garnish with espresso beans.

Erie St GastroPub – Lavender Haze

Grey Goose Vodka – Lemon – Lavender infused syrup

Glass: Coupe Glass

Ingredients

  • 2oz Grey Goose Vodka
  • 2oz Lemon Juice
  • 2oz Lavender Simple Syrup

Garnish

  • Lavender Buds
  • Dehydrated lemon wheel

Direction

  1. Add one scoop ice to shaker tin
  2. Add vodka, lemon juice, and lavender simple syrup to shaker
  3. Shake until ingredients are incorporated and shaker is cold
  4. Strain contents of shaker into martini glass
  5. Garnish with dried Lemon and Lavender buds

Lavender Syrup

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of water
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 6 dashes of Lavender bitters

Instructions

  1. Combine water and sugar into sauce pan and heat until sugar is dissolved

Add 6 dashes of Lavender bitters

Funky Chow Kitchen – Yokai

Ingredients

  • 1.5oz 1800 Blanco Tequila
  • .25oz Licor 43
  • .25oz Cassis
  • .25 Ginger Syrup*
  • .25 Lemongrass Syrup*
  • .75 Fresh Lime Juice
  • Bamboo Leaf
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker
  • Add ice
  • Shake vigorously
  • Empty contents into a chilled rocks glass (No need to strain!)
  • Add ¼ of a bamboo leaf sliced on an angle for garnish (See picture for example)
  • Enjoy your Yokai!

Syrup Instructions:

Ginger Syrup

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Ginger
  • Water
  • White Sugar

Instructions:

  • Juice fresh ginger
  • Combine equal proportions of all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30 seconds

Lemongrass Syrup

Ingredients:

  • Fresh lemongrass
  • Water
  • White Sugar

Instructions:

  • Chop 2 cups worth of lemongrass
  • Add chopped lemon grass to pot with 1L water and 1L white sugar
  • Bring pot to a boil
  • Strain through a nut bag

Mezzo Ristorante & Lounge – Fumo Vecchio

(Old Smoke) – This whisky based Italianized Old Fashioned uses a hint amaro to round out the caramel, vanilla, oak and smoke.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Maker’s Mark
  • .5 oz Amaro Averna
  • .5 oz Vanilla simple syrup
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Stirred with ice. Smoke glass with woodchips. Zest orange oil into glass. Fill with ice and pour cocktail. Garnish with orange peel

Salute Resto+Bar – Outreach

Ingredients

  • 1 oz.  – Vodka
  • ⁠.5 oz. – Ungava Gin
  • .5 oz. – Domaine De Canton
  • .75 oz. – Lemon Juice
  • .75 oz. – Turmeric Simple Syrup

Build the cocktail in a shaker. Add ice, shake and double strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass. Garnish with edible flowers.

Turmeric Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh turmeric (chopped)
  • pinch of salt

Add all the ingredients into a pot and bring to a light simmer, stirring occasionally. Once the sugar has dissolved and turmeric starts to loosen up, remove from heat and cover. Let the turmeric steep for at least 5 hours, for better results steep overnight. Strain the turmeric out and your syrup is ready to be used!
