Great Waterfront Trail Adventure

If you’re feeling ambitious, get it in gear and ride our 412 km portion of the Waterfront Trail that starts right here in Lakeshore, Ontario and stretches all the way to Quebec.  This exciting trail is a signed route using existing roads (primarily paved with some short gravel sections) and highlights our region’s stunning waterfront and smooth, flat roads.

Stretching over 1400 km along the Canadian shores of Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake St. Clair and the Niagara, Detroit and St. Lawrence Rivers, the Waterfront Trail connects 67 communities and over 182 parks and natural features. Over the years, the Trail has served as a catalyst for the regeneration of Lake Ontario and has become a much loved and well-used fitness, recreation and tourism attraction.

The Waterfront Trail consists of both on-road and off-road facilities. In the Windsor-Essex region, the trail is about 90% on-road and 10% off-road on the Lake Erie, Detroit River and Lake St Clair section. It is virtually all paved, with short sections of unpaved path and gravel roads. The on-road sections consists of quiet residential streets, local roads, rural highways and connections.
