Join in the conversation by utilizing our MyTrip Digital Itinerary Builder in your social media and on your website. See the details below for how to use and customize your own itineraries.
Start your plan
- Click mytrip.visitwindsoressex.com
- Type which town you want the itinerary to be planned in.
- Select the date(s) and number of people.
- Customize based on preferences like outdoors, shopping.
- Click ‘See your plan’
- To share the plan to more users, click on the settings sprocket, click on ‘Plan Settings’ and click ‘Enable publish mode’
Customize to give your itinerary it’s own look & feel to match your brand
Phrasing and graphics
- Click ‘Route’ on your plan and you can edit the following items
- Cover Photo – in the right hand corner click ‘Update cover photo’. This is the photo that will show up in your widget when you share.
- Introduction – on the right below the cover photo click the pencil to add an introductory paragraph and/or photo
- Plan Description – scroll to the bottom and click on the pencil on the right to edit the ‘Plan Title’ and rewrite the ‘Description’ as you see fit
Moving and removing items
- Click on the ‘Day by Day’ and change the view to ‘Calendar’
- From there you can move items, delete, and add. See details below for how to add new elements
- To move – simply drop and drag the event
- To edit time – drag from the bottom of the event to make longer or shorter
- To delete – click the x in the upper right hand of the event
Adding your restaurant to your itinerary
- Our itinerary builder doesn’t automatically add restaurants. To add a restaurant into the itinerary you can click here to check out all our restaurants and find where you would like to go
- In your itinerary change to calendar view, then left click at the time you would like to add the restaurant to.
- Click ‘Create Custom Event’
- Enter the name of the restaurant in the ‘Name’ box
- Verify the time you want people to spend at your restaurant
- Add the address of the restaurant (which will auto-populate using Google Maps) in the ‘Location’ box
- Make sure to customize your restaurant by adding in a photo and description.
- Click save
Please note restaurants can not be featured in the trip planner as it is designed. If your restaurant has experiences or unique tours, those are elements that can be included as an auto-generated place – please contact [email protected] for details.
Adding an attraction to your itinerary
- In calendar view, remove any item you want to remove by clicking the ‘x’ in the upper hand corner of that location
- Click the ‘+ Add’ button in the top right hand corner
- Click ‘Explore things to do’
- Either scroll through the items, or in the search box in the upper right hand type in the attraction name you plan to visit
- If the attraction name pops up in the window click on the attraction and view the details and click ‘Add to plan’
- If the attraction name does not pop up follow the steps above for adding a restaurant as a custom event. Make sure to customize your attraction by adding in a photo and description.
Please contact [email protected] if your attraction is not listed in the planner currently. The planner takes listings from facebook, tripadvisor and google business to populate, and we can work with you to get your attraction is featured properly in the planner.
Adding an overnight stay to your itinerary
- In calendar view, click on the day you would like to add the hotel to (you can add one per day or one for the entire trip)
- Click ‘Add reservation – hotel’
- Enter the appropriate information, including ‘Check in date’ and ‘Check out date’
- Make sure to customize your hotel by adding in a photo and description.
- Click save

Adding an event to your itinerary
- In calendar view, click on the day you would like to add the event
- Click ‘Add Custom Event”
- Enter the name of the event in the ‘Name’ box
- Verify the time you plan to spend at the event
- Add the address of the event (which will auto-populate using Google Maps) in the ‘Location’ box
- Make sure to customize your restaurant by adding in a photo and description.
- Click save

There are a few ways to share your itinerary.
On social media or in your marketing collateral
- Simple and easy – copy the link from the created survey and share it on any of your social media channels or in your email newsletters.
- Tip: use a program like bit.ly to shorten your link for better readability on social media.
Add a widget to your website
- Click mytrip.visitwindsoressex.com/widgets and select the type of widget you want to insert
- A widget is a shortcode to ad to the html of your website
- Click on ‘Plan’ and cut and paste the URL for the itinerary you created in ‘Provide your plan url’
- Click ‘Get code’
- An auto-preview will show up in the bottom left corner. If you are unhappy with the photo or title of the plan, please refer to ‘Customize Your Itinerary’ above edit those elements.
- Copy the code from the above window and paste it onto your website
