2024 Urban Birding Challenge

The second annual Windsor Urban Birding Challenge is an event created by The Pelee Island Bird Observatory and the Bird Friendly Windsor Team. The event aims to introduce new birders to discovering nature in their city and to challenge experienced birders in an urban environment. It also incorporates the annual World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) celebrations, which have the theme of ‘insects’ for 2024. The challenge runs for 24 hours, however you can choose the amount of time spent birding.

Wednesday, May 8 | Ojibway Nature Centre | 7:30 – 9:00 PM
Join hosts The Essex County Field Naturalists, as we welcome our keynote speaker, Rodrigo Lopez Valdes of Sociedad Audubon de Mexico give his presentation on the Rose-bellied Bunting.

Thursday, May 9 | Cafe Amor and Art | 9:00 – 10:00 AM
Join us for coffee and pastries with Rodrigo Lopez Valdes, who will give an encore talk on the Rose-bellied Bunting in the meeting room at the cafe.

Friday, May 10 | via Zoom | 7:00 – 8:00 PM

The 24 -hour race begins! Teams all over the city log their bird sightings on e-bird

The Awards Ceremony. Celebrate with us with some food and drinks. Prizes will be given in the categories shown.
