SUMMARY:Amherstburg Pride Picnic
DESCRIPTION:The Park House Museum is partnering with Tellers Cafe this year for True Fest! Join us on June 27th and June 28th for a pride picnic.\nDid you know that pride festivals began as simple picnics? Members of the community would gather during these picnics\, sometimes called socials or garden parties as they offered a way for the community to gather openly in public spaces in daylight.\nWe will be kicking off this celebration at the clock tower on Richmond street\, where visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about Amherstburg’s queer history\, partake in crafts\, and enjoy a picnic. Visitors will have the option to BYOP (bring your own picnic) or to pre-order a picnic from Teller’s Cafe

SUMMARY:Dark Sky Nights - Point Pelee National Park
DESCRIPTION:Explore the park after dark and experience the dark skies of Point Pelee National Park. You will have the opportunity to stay late and experience the park at night. Visitors can pick up a seasonal star chart at the front gate upon arrival. The park is open until midnight\, unless otherwise stated. \nDark Sky Viewing Tips: \n-Check the weather before heading out.\n-Take along a star chart or download a star gazing app\, and bring a pair of binoculars – or a telescope.\n-Use red cellophane over your flashlight. Red light is less obtrusive than traditional white light\, and helps to retain your night vision.\n-West Beach and the Visitor Centre parking lots are the best car-accessible stargazing locations.

SUMMARY:Butterflies of the Night with Maurice Bottos
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will illustrate the incredible diversity of Ontario moths including pinned specimens from a variety of moth families. We will look at their unique behaviors\, attraction to light\, and dispel various myths that surround moths. The presentation will conclude outside with a light setup to attract and get up close with some of local moths found in Point Pelee. \nMaurice Bottos graduated from the University of Guelph in entomology in 1984. He was a Biology/Science teacher for the WECSSB for 31 years. Bottos has been studying moths for the past 30 years both locally and in the tropical regions of the world. Specifically\, he has been looking at how different abiotic factors seem to affect the movements of moths. \nCost included in admission.

SUMMARY:Pedals and Passport
DESCRIPTION:Pedals and Passport is the signature event of the Metro 313 Cyclones – Major Taylor Detroit. This fun international event and historic path of the Underground Railroad focuses on scenic cycling just across the United States border in the country of Canada. \nWhen you travel from the Motor City of Detroit\, Michigan\, you will be treated to some fantastic and low elevation cycling as you venture into Canada’s most southern city of Windsor\, Ontario. Whether you take the Ambassador Bridge and be treated with a breathtaking city landscape of two countries or decide to drive through the tunnel underneath the Detroit River\, our Canadian friends will be ready to receive you. \nPedals and Passport has three route options that will take you through some of the historic cities that were originally part of the northern portion of the Underground Railroad. \nAll routes will start and end at Malden Park. From there\, the mostly flat and smooth terrain will take you southeast to the cities of Amherstburg\, Colchester\, and Kingsville\, Ontario\, with coastal views of the Detroit River\, windmill laden farms and wine vineyards\, and relaxing overlooks of Lake Erie. Make sure you have your PASSPORT or enhanced driver’s license to cross the border.
