OnStage: Haydn: The Philosopher
Sit where the musicians sit… onstage!
Haydn is called the father of the symphony because he contributed so much to classical music. Hear the WSO perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 22 “Philosopher,” an unusual symphony that replaces the two typical oboes with its larger cousins, the English horn. Haydn’s symphony will be paired with Joseph Kraus’ Symphony in C Minor. A contemporary of Mozart, this 18th Century Swedish composer was known as the “Mozart of Sweden” during his lifetime.
