Mac Hall New Orleans Street Beat ’23
Sunday, February 26, 2:30 pm
Mackenzie Hall Jazz continues the annual “late Mardi Gras” tradition with a 6 piece band for an afternoon of authentic New Orleans Jazz, right here in Windsor!
THE FRONT LINE
New Orleans-style trumpet ace Dave Tatrow (heard at all of America’s traditional jazz festivals); Chris Tabaczynski on his arsenal of saxes and clarinet and Mike Karoub on cello, this time playing as a front line “horn man” for authentic New Orleans Jazz polyphony. (That’s fancy music school talk for everybody in the front line jamming at once)
THE RHYTHM SECTION
This time with a “street beat” feel! from Ann Arbor, Chris Smith marching on Sousaphone and Pete Siers on drums. Heard in our November concert with Dave Bennett, Pete’s now a first-call drummer on his frequent residencies in New Orleans; Mike Karloff, piano.
THE TUNES
Bourbon Street Parade, Basin Street Blues, Canal Street Blues, Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans, Tin Roof Blues, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, St. James Infirmary, The Muskrat Ramble, That’s a Plenty, Tiger Rag, Way Down Yonder in New Orleans…you know the tunes. All the classics of New Orleans jazz!
