Chimney Swift Monitoring and Information Night
Event Website
Come out for a chance to witness one of springtime’s most captivating aerial displays and contribute to important community science! Join Gabriel Evans-Cook, Ontario Aerial Insectivore Program Biologist at Birds Canada, for an evening of Chimney Swift conversation and conservation as we monitor a key roots site in Southwestern Ontario.
We’ll meet at 1646 Alexis Rd in Windsor (back of building near Ford test Track) at 8:00 PM. Feel free to bring your own lawn chair, blanket, coffee, tea, or snacks! Gabriel will kick things off with a short talk about Chimney Swifts, their incredible migration journey, and the urgent need to monitor their declining populations through Birds Canada’s SwiftWatch program, a national citizen science effort that relies on volunteers to track swifts at nesting and roosting sites.
As dusk settles, we’ll hopefully witness dozens of swifts swirling overhead before they funnel into the church chimney to roost for the night. It’s a spectacle of nature you won’t soon forget.
Everyone is welcome to join and help Birds Canada conserve Chimney Swifts one roost at a time.
