AWE at Night: November 2022

On November 17, AWE will be open late from 5-9 pm for AWE at Night featuring art activities, community conversations, food and beverage as well as lively entertainment.Ā Meet young creators and makers from Windsor-Essex using art as a tool for change and connection. Come on out for the beautiful views ā both inside and out!
Beading Workshop with Krystal BigskyĀ ā® 5pm ā 9pm, 3rd floor
Join guest facilitator Krystal Bigsky on the 3rd floor of AWE to try your hand at beading! Krystal will help you create your very own beaded pin.
Open RehearsalĀ ā® 5:30pm ā 6pm, 2nd floor galleries
Kick off the evening with members from theĀ Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestra! The AWE galleries will transform into an open rehearsal space hosting young musicians as they fine-tune their instruments and fill the galleries with music. Guests are welcome to engage with the musicians and contemplate the art that surrounds them.

To commemorate Treaties Week, AWE presents the filmsĀ It starts with a WhisperĀ by Shelley Niro (30 mins) andĀ These Are My PeopleĀ (1969) by Roy Daniels, Willie Dunn, Michael Kanentakeron Mitchell and Barbara Wilsonāmembers of the Indian Film Crew (IFC) (13 mins).Ā Corn soup and fry bread will be served before the screening. This program is organized in partnership withĀ Turtle Island: The Aboriginal Education CentreĀ at the University of Windsor and curator Czarina Mendoza.
Community ConversationĀ ā®Ā 7:30pm ā 8pm, 3rd floor
Meet young creators, makers and doers from the Windsor-Essex community during this lighting community conversation! Members from the Windsor Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Vanguard Youth Arts Collective, and the AWE Teen Arts Council will share how they harness the power of art, music, and collaboration to activate change and connection in their communities. Ā Join us on the third floor of AWE from 7:30pm ā 8pm for this fast-paced community conversation. We encourage engagement and respectful, curious questions about the topic of this conversation.Ā We look forward to welcoming our community into this important conversation!
