Maidstone Bicentennial Museum...

The Maidstone Bicentennial Museum, located on the historic Puce River, was constructed in 1875. The original structure, destroyed by fire in 1914, was immediately replaced by the existing brick building and was used as the Township's Municipal Offices for 50 years. The Maidstone and District Historical Society was founded in 1984; its goal being to preserve and display the heritage and culture of the area. In partnership with the Essex County Conservation Authority, the Historical Society showcases a beautiful Heritage Garden on the grounds containing many unique and rare native plants, shrubs and trees; highlighting this project is the 400 square foot Butterfly Garden. The Historical Society has developed an ongoing Children's Program and Speaker's Program to ensure a hands on experience for young and old alike. Groups are welcome to take part in these programs throughout the year.  See history come alive.
