Lakeshore...
Positioned along the southern shore of Lake St. Clair, Lakeshore offers fantastic recreational activities for both tourists and locals alike. With 35 kilometers of waterfront and numerous marinas, there is excellent boating and waterfront dining. Lakeview Park, at the Belle River Marina, recently completed a $3 million expansion and is the place to be this summer. Lakeshore’s community of Belle River is often referred to as the Muskie Capital of the World. Only on our lake can you catch Walleye, Perch, Smallmouth Bass and Muskie. Ice fishing in the winter provides more opportunity to catch these great fish. Lakeshore is also home to the John Freeman Walls Historic Site and Underground Railroad Museum. Lighthouse Cove boasts the second oldest lighthouse in the Province of Ontario. The communities of Comber and Maidstone have interesting museums focusing on our rich heritage. Interested in summer festivals? In July, the Business Improvement Area hosts our Sunsplash Festival and Car Cruise. Also in July, the IJSBA Canadian National Watercross Tour is held. The Comber Fair is our agricultural festival, held annually in August. Our farms are closer than you realize and many sell direct to the customer. Take a drive on a nice day and purchase your fruits and vegetables as fresh as fresh gets - direct from the farmer. Lakeshore, come visit us.
